Event Details
You are cordially invited to register to umpire at the 2023 Sunshine Showcase at ESPN Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World® Resort in Orlando, Fla. from January 27 to 29, 2023. Umpires will be housed in rooms for up to FOUR nights (1/26 arrival - 1/30 departure) at a designated hotel (TBD). Umpires will not be reimbursed if they stay outside of the USA Field Hockey selected hotel for this event. If a single room is requested the umpire must cover half the cost of the room. Umpires will receive a meal ticket for lunch at the venue or meal money. Dinner will be on your own. Breakfast provided at hotel. USA Field Hockey will provide a $50 stipend to all umpires to help cover the transportation from Orlando Airport to the assigned hotels. Uber is estimated at $25. A shuttle will be provided if the hotel is NOT on Disney property. Umpires will receive $50 per game and can expect to umpire a minimum of three (3) games the first two days and two (2) games on the final day of the tournament. Games will be completed by 6:00 p.m. ET on the last day, so this will give enough time to secure flights out on January 29. Based on the number of teams, we are looking at about 90 umpires for the event. This years event is full field 11v11 matches and 7v7 matches. A Level 1 rating is the reccomended level to participate. The cutoff date for registration is midnight Sunday, January 1, 2023. We will be monitoring registration and will close it out early if we reach our goal of umpires.
